There are plenty of videos and apps to help you learn the Hebrew alphabet. Hebrew cursive is easy to write and its letters are not attached to each other as in English. There is, however, another style used when writing Hebrew by hand, which is called Ktav in Hebrew, Hebrew cursive. The style of writing most commonly seen in Hebrew books is referred to as Dfoos in Hebrew, which is block print or square script. For learners of Hebrew however, pronunciation aids are often added, a system of dots and dashes known as nikkud (from the word nekuda in Hebrew, which means “dot” or “period”). People who are fluent in the language do not need vowels to read Hebrew, and most things written in Hebrew in Israel are written without vowels. T here are two versions of some letters: Kaf, Mem, Nun, Peh and Tzadeh are written differently when they appear at the end of a word than when they appear in the beginning or middle of the word. The Hebrew alphabet is often called the " alef-bet," because of its first two letters in the alphabet. The Hebrew alphabet consists of 22 letters, all consonants: Alef is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet and Tav is the last. Hebrew is written from right to left, rather than left to right as in English, for example.
